Writer’s Room

CALL FOR PARTICIPANTS

Do the characters in your project come from different ethnic or cultural backgrounds, or do they identify across a range of genders? Do you care about portraying these characters authentically?

Tuke.TV, in collaboration with the Television Institute, invites producers, showrunners, and screenwriters to a masterclass workshop focused on practical models for integrating diverse voices into the development of scripts, using the writers’ room format.

WRITERS ROOM

WHEN: October 9–10, 2025
WHERE: Television Institute, Brno, Czech Republic

FEE: €180 / CZK 4,500 (The fee includes tuition, refreshments and lunch on both days and workshop materials. Accommodation and travel costs are not included.)

Scholarships are available – the number of supported places is limited.

The workshop will be held in English.
Limited to 15 participants.
Application deadline: September 21, 2025

The workshop will be led by Finnish screenwriter, director, editor, and actress Hanaleena Hauru, currently preparing for her third-cycle studies in film dramaturgy. She earned an MA in Screenwriting from Aalto University in 2011 and completed a double-degree MA in Comparative
Dramaturgy and Performance Research at Goethe University Frankfurt and Uniarts Helsinki in 2023.

Hauru’s artistic research explores decolonial theories as a methodological framework. Her most recent feature film, Parvet (2023), investigates how dramaturgical tools can benefit minority voices, especially in industry environments, where most team members – like herself – are presenting a white majority.

Hauru’s latest work for television is the miniseries The Boy Next Door, written by Eva-Maria Koskinen and set to premiere in August 2025.

Hauru’s previous short and feature films are internationally acknowledged. Her feature film “Fucking with Nobody” premiered in 2020 at the 77th Venice International Film Festival and continued its journey to the official selection of the SXSW Film Festival and International Film Festival Rotterdam. Hauru’s first feature “Thick Lashes of Lauri Mäntyvaara” was developed at Torino Film Lab and Cannes Cinefondation Residency and premiered at Torino Film Festival 2017. Hannaleena’s short films have been premiering in Cannes Critics’ Week, Berlinale, and awarded at Oberhausen, Uppsala and Tampere Film Festivals.
