Breaking Barriers / Te čhinel o agora (2022)
Tuke.TV collaborated with the Pardubice-based platform for art in public spaces, Offcity, on the joint project Breaking Barriers. Its goal was to connect top artists with young Romani and Czech filmmakers, students, and others interested in cultivating public spaces, building understanding, and breaking invisible barriers.
This inclusive project consisted of a series of film workshops where young Romani and non-Romani audiovisual enthusiasts and semi-professionals could apply. Under the guidance and in cooperation with mentors, they explored and advanced their artistic creation. The film workshops were followed by a series of live and online streamed public discussions and cultural events in public spaces, as well as the creation of video content by Tuke.TV reflecting on urban public space.

As part of the project Tuke.TV produced the following
– A news story: Who Owns Public Space?
For a month, we documented the situation of Ukrainian Romani refugees in Brno. From the very beginning of this humanitarian crisis, many questions arose: Are we capable of showing solidarity even with the poorest? Why did Brno experience such an extreme situation compared to other cities? How do Brno residents — both Roma and non-Roma — perceive the refugee wave? And who does public space truly belong to? Robin Stria, 2022
– Our first scripted project, the short film BETWEEN / WORLDS
– The concept of public space gatherings called ASK ME ANYTHING
This project was funded by the Alumni Engagement Innovation Fund, a prestigious American grant supporting initiatives that address global challenges at local, national, regional, or international levels.

Dumb Questions/Diline phučibena (2021)
A brutally honest mini-series about prejudices
#WithCourage, we took on a major challenge: creating a video series about prejudice. From the start, we knew we wanted to generate positive energy, rather than dwell on obstacles.
However, no matter how positive we try to be, some things are simply part of everyday life for Roma in the Czech Republic — like dumb questions.
Is it true that all Roma receive social benefits?
I don’t really like Roma, but you’re an exception.
A unique opportunity to find out what young Roma think when they hear thing like that.
The videos were created as part of the Advocacy and Media Training of Romani Juniors project (May 1, 2021 – October 31, 2021). We attended an advocacy workshop with David Tišer, where we received both the theoretical and hands-on training in media production. Over three days, we filmed material for the entire Dumb Questions series.
The project resonated strongly on social media resonated — on Faceboook alone, it reached over 43,000 viewers!
The project was supported by the Committee of Good Will – Olga Havel Foundation as part of the Active Citizens Fund program, which aims to strengthen civil society and empower disadvantaged groups. The program is funded by the EEA and Norway Grants.
