Dumb Questions 2025

Hloupé otázky

The concept and format of the project build on a series of short reaction videos titled “Dumb Questions,” produced by the organization Tuke.TV in 2021. However, this is an independent project.

The second series of Dumb Questions aims to achieve two key objectives. First, to inspire Roma men and women across all age groups to embrace greater self-confidence, self-awareness, and self-knowledge – whether in online spaces or in public life. Our voices are strong, and they can be heard. The second objective is empathy. As one of the participants, Natálie, says in one of the videos: “We must feel compassion together as a society. Without compassion, it would lead to tragedy.”

Directorial Intent

Compared to the first Dumb Questions series, the concept is different. The visual style is tailored to the modern social media user, with an emphasis on the “talking head” format, conveying emotions to the viewer – and not always pleasant ones.

The videos combine various genres of reaction videos, such as word associations, reading hateful comments, or watching YouTube videos.

“I wanted to shake things up a bit. Not repeat myself. That also applies to the responses from the participants. Where humor dominated in the first series, here it’s emotion. This shift is intentional, reflecting the current mood of a society caught in cultural wars. You simply cannot respond to everything with good cheer and humor.” – Robert Poupátko, Director
