About Us
THE STORY OF TUKE.TV
Tuke.TV was founded in 2019 by journalist Alica Sigmund Heráková, Romodrom organization Director Marie Gailová, and Film Director Robin Stria, with the goal of creating a media platform that produces a new type of audiovisual content—created by Roma, for Roma.
In the public sphere, there was a lack of high-quality television programs offering inspiration, positive stories, and lifestyle content for Roma that would reflect contemporary Romani culture and society. The core value on which Tuke.TV was built is the sharing of common values and empowerment.
During the preparatory phase in 2018, we conducted a feasibility study—the first-ever media survey within the Romani community in the Czech Republic. Several hundred respondents confirmed that they felt overlooked by the media and expressed what was missing and what they wanted to see from a new platform. The study helped us formulate our goals and strategies, which are reflected in the Tuke.TV program.
Since 2022, Tuke.TV has been recognized as an independent audiovisual production platform creating original content with a focus on creators of Romani origin.
We have expanded our scope beyond journalism and lifestyle sections to include scripted projects. Tuke.TV is a safe space for us, fostering the growth of creativity through the freedom to be who we are.
